On Sunday the 25th of September the ladies of Integra Associates Leicester office took part in a local charity event, Walk on the Wild Side organised by the Loros Hospice to raise funds.

The newest member to the office, Financial Controller Hazel Lee, suggested the walk as a way of remembering their colleague Lynda, who sadly passed away earlier this year following her second battle with cancer. The Loros Hospice supported Lynda and her family in her last weeks and days and the new team took the opportunity to spend a day together outside of work in her memory.

Having all agreed it was a good idea, the ladies in the office signed up to Walk on the Wild Side. An annual event hosted by Loros to encourage Walkers of all ages and fitness levels to explore Leicestershire’s beautiful countryside whilst raising money for the local Hospice. Most of the ladies in the office opted for the 11 mile version of the walk with a couple of the team going for the 4.5 mile option.

Both events were well attended, with all walkers venturing through Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood with the addition of the Cropston Reservoir for the 11 mile trek.

Loros made a family-day out of it and also offered a ‘Walk in Wonderland’ to encourage young walkers and wheelchair users, which gave them the chance to explore the Enchanted Forest. As well as the usual deer in Bradgate Park for this occasion there were also alpacas and an opportunity to ‘meet the Mad Hatter’ at the end of the route.

Initially, the team did not ask for any funding towards the walk as it was something they all wanted to do and considered their registration fee as a donation. However, after spending the day chatting to different families and sharing different stories they were reminded of the fantastic work that the Hospice does. Work which relies on funding from such events and with that in mind the ladies ask their network to consider gifting the Loros Hospice with a donation.
